AnnaKustera presents Urbanity on Paper, a group show that takes as its subtext the entwined aesthetic, philosophical and sociological facets of cities. Rather than focusing on the direct representations of urban life, the show abstractly evokes the way in which cities shape the human experience; the way in which they force the collision between man and material; and through this collision conjure wit, art and decay.

Featured in the show are new paintings by Loren Holland; a contextual library by Regina Joseph; graphic designs by Ju$t Another Rich Kid; photographic works on paper by Charles LaBelle and Laure Leber; and drawings by British artist Stuart Semple.

“The city is a fact in nature, like a cave, a run of mackerel or an ant-heap. But it is also a conscious work of art, and it holds within its communal framework many simpler and more personal forms of art. Mind takes form in the city; and in turn, urban forms condition mind.” - Lewis Mumford
